Big Ten to Pitch Fall-Spring Schedule

Hoosier Baseball Stadium Nearing Completion

Gophers Enjoy New Turf, Begin Practice as Siebert Renovation Project Nears Completion

The University of Minnesota baseball team began practice this week at the new Siebert Field. The natural grass playing surface has been replaced with field turf. Gophers Break Ground Today on New Ballpark

The University of Minnesota is scheduled to break ground this afternoon on a new ballpark to replace deteriorating Siebert Field for the Golden Gophers baseball team.  Construction on the new 1,400-seat, $7.13 million facility is expected to begin June 18 and be completed before the end of the year.  Red more here.

Goodbye, Siebert Field

The University of Minnesota Golden Gophers baseball team played their last game at Siebert last night in front of a crowd of 1,421 fans and old-timers who came back to say goodbye.  Siebert has been the home for the Gophers for the past 41 seasons.  Construction is expected to begin soon on a new $7.5 million replacement.  Read more here and here.

Gophers to Finally Get New Ballpark

It’s been a long time coming, but the Universityof Minnesota issued a request for proposal last week soliciting design-build services for the development of a $7.5 million ballpark for the Golden Gophers.  Proposals are due by Jan. 27.  The facility, which will have artificial turf, is being targeted for completion by the end of this year.  The Gophers currently play at 40-year-old Siebert FieldRead more here.

Gophers Desperate for New Park

Pohlad Family Donates $2 Million for New Ballpark for Gophers

The fundraising for a new on campus ballpark for the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers baseball team just got a major injection.  The Pohlad family, owners of the Minnesota Twins, announced at a press conference yesterday a $2 million gift to the university for the project.  The Gophers hope to begin play in the new 3,000-seat, $7.5 million (Phase I) facility by 2012.  Read more here.

Gophers to Announce Major Gift Today for New Park

Gophers Continue Fundraising for New Ballpark

The University of  Minnesota Golden Gophers baseball team had the honor of playing the first game ever at Target Field, the new home for the Minnesota Twins, back on March 27.  The experience offered an unforgettable taste of what could be if the Gophers are able to raise the private funds necessary to replace Siebert Field with a new $15-$18 million ballpark of their own.  Read more here.
