Sooners Unveil Master Facility Plans for Baseball and Softball
University of Oklahoma Vice President and Athletics Director Joe Castiglione announced today the completion of master plans for the baseball and softball facilities at OU. Mountaineers Ballpark Construction Update
A new rendering of the Monongalia County Ballpark currently under construction for the West Virginia University Mountaineers baseball team (and possibly a Single-A New York-Penn League club) in Morgantown (WV) has surfaced. Morgantown Ballpark Proposal Takes Next Steps
The developer who is proposing a new 3,000 to 3,500-seat ballpark in Morgantown for the West Virginia University Mountaineers and potentially a minor league team made a presentation yesterday before the Monongalia County Commission. Read more and view view video here.

WVU Wants NYPL Club for Ballpark Project
As we posted last week, West Virginia University is looking at building a new ballpark at University Town Center in Granville (WV). To mitigate the cost, WVU would like to partner with a Single-A New York-Penn League club to fill seats during the summer months. Read more here.

Baseball Not Expected to Return to Iowa State
When the Big 12 shrinks to 10 teams in a few weeks, Iowa State will be the only school in the conference without a baseball program. The university sent Cyclones baseball to the showers 10 years ago, and athletic director Jamie Pollard indicated last week that the costs make it unrealistic for the program’s return. Cap Timm Field would also need a major upgrade or replacement to keep up with the big boys. Read more here.

Tech’s Baseball Stadium to Get Off-Season Upgrade?
Texas Tech’s Dan Law Field could get $3.8 million in upgrades during the off-season, according to a report. While the report makes this big news sound brand new and top secret, this is not the case. As we posted last May, Texas Tech had already raised $3 million for the first phase of renovations, with a fundraising target of $12 million to finish the job. Check out a better report here.

Olsen Field to Become ‘Blue Bell Park’
The name of Texas A&M’s Olsen Field is slated to become “C.E. ‘Pete’ Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park,” after a $7 million donation from Blue Bell Creameries and two of its executives. The contribution will help fund a major $24 million overhaul of the stadium. Read more here. Blue Bell ice cream is known throughout Texas but is not quite as delicious as Schwan’s.
Renovations on Deck at Texas Tech
Texas Tech’s Dan Law Field could soon get a $12 million makeover that would bring it up to snuff with the rest of the Big 12 and open the door to Tech hosting an NCAA regional. So far, $3 million has been pledged for the project. Read more here.
