Atlantic City Tees Up ‘The Sandcastle’ for Future Team

Surf Stadium, aka “The Sandcastle,” former home of the Atlantic City Surf (Independent Professional, Can-Am League/Atlantic League), is undergoing continuous renovations as Atlantic City (NJ) plans for it’s future.  City officials hope to bring a baseball team back in the coming years.  Read more and view photos here.

Two Bidders for Atlantic City’s Bader Field

Two companies made bids for Bader Field on Thursday.  Legend Properties, based in Cherry Hill, and Bader Field Development LLC, located in Long Branch, were reportedly the only two to offer money for the former municipal airport adjacent to The Sandcastle, former home of the Atlantic City Surf (Independent Professional, Can-Am League/Atlantic League).  Read more and view map here.  Thanks to John Cerone for the link.

Back in Business for ‘The Sandcastle’

After $260,000 in repairs, Bernie Robbins Stadium (aka “The Sandcastle”), former home of the indy pro Atlantic City Surf, is ready for the three-day Dave Matthews Band festival June 24 to 26 and the Atlantic City Summer Fest music concert on July 2.  As you recall, the Sandcastle was embarrassingly neglected by the city after the Surf folded in 2009.  Read more here.  Thanks to John Cerone for the link.

Hang On, Ballpark Help is On It’s Way!

It looks like “The Sandcastle” in Atlantic City (NJ) will live to fight another day.  The Atlantic City Council voted on Wednesday to reallocate $300 million in bonding dollars to bring the deteriorating former home of the Altlantic City Surf back to life.  Read more here.

Burning Down the House…er…Ballpark

The Sandcastle: Abandoned and Under Assault, but New Life on Horizon?

Graffiti, damage and theft reign supreme at the former home of the indy pro Atlantic City Surf.  Since the team folded up shop in 2009, Bernie Robbins Stadium, also known as The Sandcastle, has been under assault by vandals, thiefs, drug dealers and the natural elements.  As we recall, it was the cash-strapped city that didn’t seem interested in keeping the team or saving the stadium, when it put the land on which
