Snappers Being Sold, New Downtown Ballpark Proposed
Quint Studer and Diane Hendricks have announced that they are buying the Beloit Snappers (Single-A, Midwest League) and proposing a new stadium near the Rock River behind Beloit City Hall. Governor’s Veto Could Impact Beloit’s Effort for Ballpark State Aid

Minor League Baseball President Pat O’Conner was in Beloit (WI) Wednesday for the Single-A Beloit Snappers’ (Midwest League) Hot Stove Banquet. Pohlman Concourse Renovation Nearing Completion
The Single-A Beloit Snappers are close to completing a renovation of the concourse at Pohlman Field. The new concourse will feature a rain garden that will host natural vegetation and help the drainage of water from the concourse surface. The project was funded by the city of Beloit (WI) at a cost of about $82,000. View photo gallery here.

With their MLB parent club ready to open a shiney new stadium in Minneapolis, a topic of discussion at the Beloit Snappers’ Hot Stove Banquet was the future of the club in Beloit without a new ballpark. Not suprisingly, the consensus by Jeff Vohs, the team’s GM, and George Spelius, the president of the Midwest league, was that the team will not be able to survive long-term at Pohlman Field.
