The inaugural Charlotte Beerfest will be held Sept. 20 at BB&T Ballpark, the new uptown home of the Triple-A Charlotte Knights (International League). Charlotte (NC) resident Philip Elmore, stationed in Germany for his service in the Navy, surprised his 8-year-old daughter at BB&T Ballpark on Friday. Donning a Triple-A Charlotte Knights (International League) uniform and catcher’s gear, he took the field without his daughter, Isabella, recognizing him. Despite dreams of movie theaters, shops, upscale apartments and restaurants for the acres of land around BB&T Ballpark, home of the Single-A Winston-Salem Dash (Carolina League), city planners have given the developer approval to build a 200-unit apartment complex on the property, without the required master plan for the area being submitted and approved.
