Andy Helwig has been named as the new voice of the Batavia Muckdogs (Single-A, New York-Penn League). Helwig is a Canisius College and Canisius High School graduate and will be interning this summer with the Muckdogs after spending last summer interning with the Buffalo Bisons (Triple-A, International League), where he hosted a postgame show on ESPN1520 AM. GCBC Issues Statement on Muckdogs
Genessee County Baseball Club (GCBC), the nonprofit that has owned the Batavia Muckdogs (Single-A, New York-Penn League, issued a statement last week announcing that the franchise has been transferred to the league. Read statement here. If the NYPL Muckdogs do not return to Dwyer Stadium in 2018, expect the summer collegiate PGCBL and NYCBL to be all over it.

Muckdogs Still For Sale
There is really nothing new here, but the Single-A Batavia Muckdogs (New York-Penn League) will still be operated by the owner of the Triple-A Rochester Red Wings (International League) during the 2015 season, and the team is still for sale. As you recall, even though the operator is eating annual financial losses, they will profit handsomely when the Muckdogs are eventually sold based on a deal struck in 2008. Read more here.

Baseball America: Deal for B-Mets in the Works
Baseball America is reporting that sources are saying that the Double-A Binghamton Mets are indeed the team targeted for Ottawa, and that inquiries have been made to bring the Single-A Batavia Muckdogs (New York-Penn League) to NYSEG Stadium to replace them.
