Jumbo Shrimp Introduce Bat Dog, Will Unveil Second Mascot Tonight

The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp are putting the final touches on their roster for their opening homestand, signing Sgt. Scampi, from K9s For Warriors, as the team’s bat dog for a designated half inning at each Friday home game during the 2017 season.  Read press release here.  Read about second mascot unveiling here.

One-Year-Old ‘Rookie’ Prepares for Duty

Derby’s a Daddy, Name the New Bat Dog (Puppy)

PRESS RELEASE – Derby, the Golden Retriever bat dog for the Trenton Thunder Minor League Baseball team, recently became a father and the Thunder are proud to introduce the newest four-legged member of the Thunder family.

Thunder’s Bat Dog to Retire, Birthday and Retirement Party Scheduled For July 5

Chase, the beloved bat dog for the Double-A Trenton Thunder (Eastern League), will officially retire on July 5.  The 13-year-old Golden Retriever has been fetching bats at Thunder games since 2002.

Grasshoppers Bat Dog Statue Stolen (UPDATED)

A statue of the Single-A Greensboro Grasshoppers bat dog mascot Miss Babe Ruth was stolen from the team’s ballpark.  Babe was bolted down in four inches of concrete, so it wasn’t a simple grab and run.  Read more here.  UPDATED:  The statue has been recovered from a 25-year-old knucklehead.  Because a replacment had already been ordered, the Grosshoppers will offer old, broken Babe on eBay.  Read more here.
