Miners Sign-On for Three More Seasons

The smell of bratwurst filled the air as attendees sipped beer and watched a game of baseball at the first Grand Slam Beer Fest, held at Skylands Stadium over the weekend. Book About Skylands Park, New Jersey Cardinals Released

Rob Hilliard has released a book called The Circus is in Town — A Baseball Odyssey, a 790-page manuscript chronicling every detail of the deal to build Skylands Park in Frankford Township (NJ) and the relocation of the Hamilton Redbirds (Single-A, New York-Penn League) to the new stadium as the renamed New Jersey Cardinals.  The book also traces his lifelong love of baseball from his childhood days to his cameo appearance as a sports writer in the 2013 movie 42 about Jackie Robinson.  Read more here.  Thanks to John Cerone for the link.

Wheelhouse Kitchen & Bar Set to Open at Skylands Stadium

Pro Ball Returns to Sussex Stadium

The Sussex County Miners (Indy Pro, Can-Am League) opened their inaugural home stand on Monday night in front of a crowd of 3,819 at Skylands Stadium.  This is the first time the ballpark has hosted professional baseball since the Sussex Skyhawks (Indy Pro, Can-Am League) folded in 2011.  Read more here.  View photo here.
