Minor League Baseball Attendance Reaches Nearly 40.5 Million in 2018

Blasters Seek Payment Forgiveness, Lease Restructuring to Save Team
Saying they cannot afford to operate in Joplin (MO) without a lease restructuring because of lower than expected paid attendance, the owners of the Joplin Blasters (Indy Pro, American Association) announced they want the Joplin City Council to forgive the $37,500 quarterly lease payment that was not paid on Oct. 1, and to reduce the annual lease in future seasons from $150,000 to $50,000. Time Ripe for Rangers Move to Downtown Dallas?
Should the Texas Rangers move from Arlington to Dallas? According to two local news outlets, yes, they should. The Ballpark Business 2014 Per Game Average Attendance Mega-Rankings are here. The Triple-A Charlotte Knights (International League) capture the top spot with their brand new ballpark. The Winnipeg Goldeyes (American Association) are the best among the independent professional ranks at #33, while the Madison Mallards (Northwoods League) are once again the top summer collegiate performer at #24.

MLB Ends Minor Attendance Skid
After a drop in attendance the previous three seasons, MLB has a little something to cheer about. This year, the 30 teams combined to average 30,229 fans per game, which is up from 30,067 last year. The number is still below the record 32,785 fans per game set in 2007. Read more here.

Ballpark Business Releases 2010 Attendance Mega-Rankings
The independent professional Atlantic League closed the book on the 2010 regular season on Sunday. The playoffs will push forward, but the Ballpark Business 2010 Per Game Average Attendance Mega-Rankings are here. The Triple-A Lehigh Valley IronPigs (#1) top this year’s list, while the Long Island Ducks (#28) and Madison Mallards (#31) were the best in the independent professional and summer collegiate ranks, respectively.
