Camden, Atlantic City Could Return to Atlantic League

Two Bidders for Atlantic City’s Bader Field
Two companies made bids for Bader Field on Thursday. Legend Properties, based in Cherry Hill, and Bader Field Development LLC, located in Long Branch, were reportedly the only two to offer money for the former municipal airport adjacent to The Sandcastle, former home of the Atlantic City Surf (Independent Professional, Can-Am League/Atlantic League). Bader Field Back on the Auction Block
Atlantic City (NJ) is putting Bader Field back on the auction block as it continues to look for potential revenue sources to help close a $100 million budget deficit and fend off a state takeover. Four Development Proposals for Atlantic City’s Bader Field

Atlantic City Baseball Fans Hang Hopes on New Diamond League
In not-so-surprising news, Atlantic League CEO Frank Boulton said Thursday that his developing new short-season circuit — the indy pro Diamond League — has an interest in putting a team in Atlantic City (NJ). The Sandcastle to be Renamed Surf Stadium
Signaling a new day for baseball in Atlantic City (NJ), the city council is expected to vote Wednesday to change the name of Sandcastle Stadium, former home of the indy pro Atlantic City Surf (Atlantic League/Can-Am League), to Surf Stadium. Officals are also expected to award a contract to Georgia Golf Construction, Inc. to install new turf and improve the infield. Read more here.
The Sandcastle to Host Riversharks, Skeeters
With an eye toward potentially fielding a full-time team in Atlantic City beginning in 2013, Atlantic League CEO Frank Boulton announced Wednesday that the Camden Riversharks and first-year Sugarland Skeeters will play a three-game series at Sandcastle Stadium on Labor Day weekend, if the city can restore the playing field in time. More Restoration Dollars Approved for The Sandcastle

Monorail, Waterpark on Deck for Sandcastle Stadium Area
A developer has presented an $848 million proposal to turn Bader Field into a family entertainment complex. To compliment The Sandcastle, the former home for the Atlantic City Surf, which sits on the Bader property, the developer wants to build a waterpark, condos, restaurants, and a casino/bingo hall that would all be served by a monorail.
