Maine Artist Carves Up Hallowed Grounds in Hallowell

In a nice story for a lazy Sunday, John Kennedy, an artist, wood carver, and carpenter from Hallowell (ME), has carved the images of 36 standing baseball stadiums from 9-by-12-inch pieces of Eastern White Pine.  His collection will be on display today from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hoxter’s Sports Bar & Bistro in Hallowell.  Read more here.  View close up of Miller Park here.  View close up of Fenway Park here.

Artist Stitches Ballpark, City Together

Inspired by the stiches on a baseball, artist Derek Parker from North Adams (MA) is installing a new sculpture at Clipper Magazine Stadium, home of the indy pro Lancaster Barnstormers (Atlantic League).  The red-painted metal plates arranged along the walkway in front of the stadium metaphorically stitch together the team’s home and the city around it.  Read more and view photo here.
