TIF District Approved for Proposed Ballpark Location

The state of West Virginia has approved a tax-increment financing (TIF) district for University Town Centre in Morgantown, which is the targeted location for a proposed new $15 million ballpark for the West Virginia University (WVU) Mountaineers and possibly a minor-league baseball team.  Using TIF dollars to actually build the stadium still has to be approved.  Read more here.  Meanwhile, WVU Continue reading

Wine Bill Reaches Governor’s Desk

The Single-A West Virginia Power (South Atlantic League) might soon be able to sell wine at Appalachian Power Park, if the governor signs into law a bill passed by the legislature on Thursday.  This development would also impact Appalachian League ballparks in Bluefield and Princeton, but apparently the Rookie Blue Jays and Rays don’t sell any alcohol.  Read more here.
