Saints to Honor Building-Scaling Raccoon

PRESS RELEASE – She was one of us and the world wrapped their arms around our #MPRRaccoon.  Not all heroes wear capes and ours climbed her way into the hearts of many, along with one of the highest buildings in Saint Paul.  While many consider Minnesota a state you flyover to get to your destination, our hero proved this was an area she didn’t want to leave.  She has now been returned safely into the wild, but her story will live forever and the St. Paul Saints plan on honoring the greatest raccoon known to man, since perhaps Rocket Raccoon, as they change their name for a day.

Zimmerman Breaks Ground on Ballpark, Naming Rights Coming Soon

Dogs Open Inaugural Home Stand in Front of Packed House

There is now professional baseball in Rosemont (IL), courtesy of the Chicago Dogs (Independent Professional, American Association). The ownership of the new American Association (Independent Professional) team that will take up residence at the developing Ballpark Commons in Franklin (WI) has narrowed the list of possible farmed-themed names for the franchise, including Barn Owls, Crop Dusters, Haymakers, Milk Men, and War Pigs.  Vote for your favorite here.  Is the Journal Sentinel confused?  The publication lists the “top three finalists” as the Crop Dusters, Cheesers, and Farmhands.  Read more here.

Luxe Golf Bays Coming to Franklin’s Ballpark Commons

Next year, the new Ballpark Commons will bring a experiential golf concept to Franklin (WI) in the form of Luxe Golf Bays, a golf entertainment facility that promises fun for both scratch golfers and never-touched-a-driver hackers.  The facility will be a massive, three-level entertainment center with 57 heated, open-air bays overlooking approximately 215 yards of turf, as well as two locally branded restaurants and a four-season beer garden called the Hinterhof.  Read more and view renderings here.

New Year-Round Restaurant to Open at U.S. Steel Yard

Two northwest Indiana restaurateurs are set next month to open a year-round restaurant in the U.S. Steel Yard, home of the Gary SouthShore RailCats (Independent Professional, American Association). Saints Seek Exemption from Minnesota’s Minimum Wage Law, Cite Salary Cap

The owners of the St. Paul Saints (Independent Professional, American Association) are seeking an exemption from having to pay its players Minnesota’s minimum wage.  The Saints say without the exemption, the baseball team runs into a problem with a league rule limiting club payrolls.  Read more here.

Saints to Induct Three Deserving Pigs into ‘Monument Pork’

PRESS RELEASE – The New York Yankees have Monument Park. The St. Paul Saints will now have Monument Pork. Baseball Returning to Laredo

Laredo (TX) City Council last week unanimously voted in favor of a proposal to bring baseball back to Laredo.  The Tecolotes de los Dos Laredos (Owls of the Two Laredos) will occupy Uni-Trade Stadium for the 2018 Liga Mexicana de Béisbol campaign.  The squad is set to split its home schedule between the sister cities.  Read more here.

Franklin Ballpark Construction Expected to Begin Spring 2018

With the sale of the Crystal Ridge landfill approved, the construction of the Ballpark Commons in Franklin (WI) can now begin.  The Milwaukee County Board reportedly approved the sale to ROC Ventures, the developer of the $100 million project, on Sept. 28 with an 11-7 vote.  Read more here.
