Judge Puts Final Nail in Dillas’ Coffin?

No big surprise here, but a judge has rejected a motion by Reunion Sports Group, the owner of the United League’s Amarillo Dillas, to keep the American Association’s Amarillo Sox from taking up residence at Potter County Memorial Stadium, now known as Amarillo National Bank Sox Stadium.  RSG has until mid-February to file an appeal.  Read more here.

Amarillo Gold Sox?

The new name for the American Association team in Amarillo (TX) is reportedly going to be the Amarillo Gold Sox.  However, we see a potential problem for the new team, as the “Gold Sox” mark is owned by the City of Marysville (CA) for the summer collegiate Marysville (formerly Yuba-Sutter) Gold Sox. Dilla Villa to Get New Name (at Some Point)

Motion Denied

Judge Dan Schaap has denied the temporary injunction motion filed by the United League’s Amarillo Dillas to keep Potter County (TX) from bringing an American Assocation team to Potter County Memorial Stadium (Amarillo National Bank Dilla Villa) to replace them.  Read more here.

Dillas Seek Injunction

The United League’s Amarillo Dillas are seeking an injunction to prevent Potter County from leasing Potter County Memorial Stadium (Amarillo National Bank Dilla Villa) to Southern Independent Baseball.  Judge Dan Schaap heard arguments on Monday and expects to make a decision on the motion for a temporary restraining order this week.  Read more here.

New Tenant Approved in Amarillo

As expected, Southern Independent Baseball led by Scott Berry and Potter County finalized a lease contract today that will bring an American Association team to Potter County Memorial Stadium, former home of the United League’s Amarillo Dillas.  SIB will pay the county $72,000 per year.  So, will the team be a new franchise or relocated club?  Read more hereView news clip here.

Four Submit Bids to Use Amarillo Ballpark

Potter County (TX) has received four bids to lease Amarilllo National Bank Dilla Villa (Potter County Memorial Stadium), including Southern Independent Baseball (American Association), the new Pecos League, an unknown entity called Amarillo Community Baseball Club, and the recently evicted Amarillo Dillas.  The county commissioners are expected to make a final decision next month.  Read more here.

Amarillo Saga Continues

It appears that the Amarillo Dillas are not quite out at Amarillo National Bank Dilla Villa. Because of a threatened lawsuit by the Dillas against Potter County for improperly evicting them, the county has agreed to enter into mediation with the team, which could put the park back in the hands of the Dillas for the 2011 season.  We doubt this will happen, but it does delay any deal with the American Association. Dillas Done in Amarillo

The Potter County Commissioners voted last night to cancel the Amarillo Dillas’ lease at Amarillo National Bank Dilla Villa for failure to pay the $75k balance on club’s lease.  The county will now put the lease up for bid.  The owner of an American Association team was at Friday’s meeting, so don’t expect Amarillo to be without ball for long.  The bigger question is, what does this mean for the future of the United Continue reading

Dillas on the Brink of Eviction?

The United League’s Amarillo Dillas reportedly missed a 5:00 p.m. deadline on Thursday to pony up $75k in back rent to keep them in business at Amarillo National Bank Dilla Villa.  Potter County could decide as early as today to evict the Dillas.  Read more and view news clip here.

Dillas to be ‘Bounced’ Out of Dilla Villa?

Reunion Sports Group, which owns the United League’s Amarillo Dillas, has bounced a second check for $25k  that was due yesterday to Potter County pursuant to a payment plan to get the Dillas caught up on their lease payments.  The check for the first $25k payment due last week bounced, but the payment was later made by wire transfer.  So far, no wire transfer has been made for the second payment, and Continue reading

Dillas Owe $100K in Back Rent, Strict Payment Schedule Set

The United League’s Amarillo Dillas could be booted from National Bank Dilla Villa stadium, if Reunion Sports Group fails to make a $25k payment by Friday, another $25k payment by  Sept. 24, and a final $5ok payment by Sept. 30.  If the group misses a payment, Potter County will put the lease up for bid.  Read more here.

County Seeking Greater Protection from Dillas

Despite a two year lease contract that is already in place, Potter County Commissioners are asking the Amarillo Dillas to put up a performance bond that would pay the teams rent at Amarillo National Bank Dilla Villa stadium in the event that the team doesn’t pony up.  The rent is reportedly $100k per year, which can be forgiven for every $100k spent on needed ballpark improvements.  Read more here
