Despite shutting down the first-year Abilene Prairie Dogs early last season because of poor attendance at booze-less Walt Driggers Field on the campus of McMurry University, indy pro United League Baseball still hopes to capture the market with a new 4,000-seat stadium. United League Loses One, Will Expand By Two
Despite the financial challenges facing the indy pro United League Baseball, CEO John Bryant says the circuit will soon announce two expansion teams in two new markets for the 2013 season. As was rumored back in September, the one-and-done Abilene Prairie Dogs will not be returning. Read more here.

Prairie Dogs Still Owe Money to Players

NAL’s Southern Division Now United
We noticed that the indy pro North American League’s Southern Division is now listed as the United Division. As this whole Frankenleague experiment — born out of desperation, not inspiration — evolves, we could certainly see the Texas teams reverting back to the old United League Baseball brand, if the Northern Division of the NAL fails to stabilize. Expansion Prairie Dogs Already Talking New Ballpark
As we posted on Tuesday, the Abilene Prairie Dogs are being revived as a member of the indy pro North American League. A little tidbit from the formal announcement yesterday is that the team is interested in building a new privately-funded $3 to $4 million ballpark within the next two years. Read more here

Abilene Prairie Dogs to Return in 2012
