Remembering Meadowbrook Park, 1972 Greenville Rangers

Next Tuesday will mark the 40th anniversary of baseball’s loss of “The Alamo” (not the one in San Antonio) to an early morning fire.  Meadowbrook Park, built in 1938, was gutted by flames on Valentine’s Day in 1972, just before young Rich Donnelly rolled into Greenville (SC) to manage the the Single-A Greenville Rangers (Western Carolinas League).  Read more here.  Soon after the Continue reading

White Sox to Sport Throwback Unis on Sundays

The Chicago White Sox have announced that players will don replica red and white uniforms from the team’s 1972 season during all Sunday home games in 2012.  Read more and view unis here.  Thanks to John Cerone for the link.
