Syracuse Mets Set Date for 2019 Ballpark Craft Beer Festival

The Syracuse Mets’ (Triple-A, International League) 2019 Ballpark Craft Beer Festival, featuring samples of more than 100 beers from 50 or so breweries, will be 7 to 10 p.m. Friday June 21.  That’s an off-night for the team.  In previous years, the beer fest had been held in September, after the end of the season. UConn Names New Ballpark

The UConn Board of Trustees has approved of naming the new on-campus baseball facility Elliot Ballpark.  The 1,500-seat stadium is scheduled to open in the spring of 2020.  Read more here.

Chico State to Honor Steve Nettleton

Chico State Athletics will be holding a celebration of the life of Steve Nettleton on Saturday at the stadium bearing his name, Nettleton Stadium.  His lifelong interest in baseball and dream of owning a baseball team came to fruition when Nettleton and his partners brought the Chico Heat (Independent Professional, Western Baseball League) to town in 1997.  Nettleton passed away in January.  Read more hereRead more about the Heat here.

Soccer Makes Home Debut at Lugnuts’ Ballpark

45 minutes into the game, the Lansing Ignite Football Club (USL League One) brought 3,369 fans to their feet by scoring the team’s first home goal inside Cooley Law School Stadium on Saturday night.  The affair was a historic one — the first professional soccer match to be played in Michigan since the Detroit Express in the North American Soccer League back in 1980.  Read more hereView photo gallery here.

Fans Get First Look at New Fayetteville Ballpark

More than 2,500 people walked into Segra Stadium Saturday as part of a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new $40.2 million ballpark, which will be home to the Fayetteville Woodpeckers (Single-A, Carolina League).   Read more here.
