South Bend Cubs to Celebrate ‘Mister Rogers Day’ Aug. 12

The South Bend Cubs (Single-A, Midswest League) will celebrate the legacy of Fred Rogers with “Mister Rogers Day” on Sunday, August 12.  On this “beautiful day in the neighborhood,” the team will wear Mister Rogers-themed jerseys and activities honoring the television icon will take place throughout the game.  Proceeds from the jersey auction will benefit WNIT Public Television. Somerset Patriots Welcome 7-Millionth Fan

The Somerset Patriots welcomed their 7,000,000th Fan to TD Bank Ballpark on Thursday, July 26th. At 6:34 pm, Dan Heitkamp of Washington Township purchased the ticket to the game and entered the main gate with his 4-year old godson Logan where he was greeted by Somerset Patriots President/General Manager Patrick McVerry and Manager Emeritus Sparky Lyle among the fanfare.

Saints to Honor Building-Scaling Raccoon

PRESS RELEASE – She was one of us and the world wrapped their arms around our #MPRRaccoon.  Not all heroes wear capes and ours climbed her way into the hearts of many, along with one of the highest buildings in Saint Paul.  While many consider Minnesota a state you flyover to get to your destination, our hero proved this was an area she didn’t want to leave.  She has now been returned safely into the wild, but her story will live forever and the St. Paul Saints plan on honoring the greatest raccoon known to man, since perhaps Rocket Raccoon, as they change their name for a day.

A Look Back at the First Fully Retractable Motorized Roof Ever

These days, retractable roofs are pretty commonplace, found at ballparks everywhere from Miami to Milwaukee to Seattle. But when the Toronto Blue Jays broke ground on the SkyDome (now known as Rogers Centre) in 1986, it was completely unheard of, like something out of a science-fiction movie.  Read more here.

Saints 25-Year Documentary Coming to the Big Screen

Jackie Robinson Day 2018

Baseball across the spectrum celebrated Jackie Robinson Day on Sunday to mark the 71st anniversary of the day Jack Roosevelt Robinson became the first African-American in the major leagues when he played his first game as a member of the Brooklyn Dodgers. MLB teams honored the legacy of Robinson by displaying No. 42 on the back of every game jersey and a commemorative patch on caps and jersey sleeves.  Read more here.  Minor league teams honored Robinson as well, including the Daytona Torgugas (Single-A, Florida State League).  View photo gallery here.

Northwoods League Announces Executive and Organization of the Year
