Expedition League’s Sioux Falls Team Unveils Name and Logo

PRESS RELEASE – The Expedition League’s Sioux Falls affiliate, which will begin play in May of 2020, has announced the team’s name and unveiled the official logo. The team name is the Sioux Falls Sunfish and the logo has been released. The sunfish, or bluegill, is a popular panfish throughout the Sioux Falls region and all of South Dakota. Anyone who has fished for sunfish knows how much fun it is to catch them and what a beautiful fish it is.

“The fan participation in naming the team was incredible and support for the Sunfish name is very strong,” said Steve Wagner, Expedition League President. “The great people of Sioux Falls and the surrounding communities have an outstanding team name and a very cool logo to call their own. This is an exciting time for Sunfish fans as we open a new chapter of baseball and FUN in Sioux Falls. As we discussed at our press conference back in December, this will be an unforgettable summer for Sunfish fans as you enjoy an awesome fan experience at the ballpark with nonstop fun, between inning games, national in-game acts, and great food & beverage options, all in a very fan friendly atmosphere at Karras Park.”

Opening Day of the 2020 Expedition League season is Tuesday May 26, 2020. The Sunfish 2020 Home Opener is Friday May 29, 2020 against the Clark Division foe Hastings Sodbusters. Sioux Falls Sunfish home games will be played at Karras Park Home of Ronken Field at Augustana University located at 1401 W. 33rd Street in Sioux Falls.
