PRESS RELEASE – The Casper Horseheads of the Expedition League today announced the departure of General Manager Matthew Snyder. Snyder, who joined the team in September 2018, steps down due to ongoing and increasingly serious health concerns.
“I am deeply disappointed in my inability to remain in the role of General Manager with the Casper Horseheads,” Snyder said. “Over recent months, my health and well-being has increasingly become a major issue and concern. Therefore, I think it best to step back from the day to day operations of the team. I am eternally grateful for the generosity and kindness of the Heemans. Casper has been amazingly kind to me both personally and professionally and I intend to stay here and remain as active in the community as I have been. To our guests and partners, thank you! Please know that I will be the Horseheads’ biggest cheerleader and will be front and center on Opening Day!”
Snyder departed from the Horseheads organization as of March 31 but will remain available to team owners Mayra and Chuck Heeman for consultation and advice during the transition as the team moves toward the May 24 season opener.
“Matthew came to us at a time when Mayra was facing a very serious health issue of her own, so we completely understand putting health before anything else,” Chuck Heeman said. “He created a tremendous buzz in the community, and very much took charge of the operation while we were in Arizona during the fall and early winter months with Mayra’s recovery. Now that Matthew is facing health issues of his own it is clear to all of us to make sure he is able to find the lifestyle he needs for his long-term health. We part friends and will remain friends as the Horseheads, and Matthew, move forward. We cannot thank Matthew enough for his time here and what he created for our second season.”
The Horseheads will announce new personnel additions in the coming days to assist while the team conducts a national search for Snyder’s replacement.
