Gold Sox to Cease Operations Unless New Ownership is Formed

PRESS RELEASE – CSH International announced today that the Yuba Sutter Gold Sox will cease operations on November 30th after spending the last three seasons as a member of the Great West League (GWL) unless a new ownership group led by Vice-President / General Manager Michael Mink can be formed.

“After an extensive review of current and future financial data, it became clear that, despite significant investments in team that we were unlikely to produce a sustainable return relative to the required investment following the folding of the GWL and without a reasonable ballpark lease. While we hope that local investors will step up to keep the Gold Sox on the field in 2019, we are extremely grateful to everyone who has invested their time, support, and made significant financial and emotional commitments to the team over the past few seasons. We are also grateful to the hundreds outstanding student athletes and dedicated coaches who have played for us, many of whom have gone on to professional careers and completed their degrees,” said CSH International in a statement.

The Gold Sox, a summer collegiate team, had previously been a part of the California Collegiate League (2003-04) and Horizon Air Summer Series (2005-2015) prior to joining the GWL in 2016. Notable recent alumni of the program include future big leaguers Dallas Braden, Tommy Everidge, Anthony Bass, Curtis Partch, Brock Stassi and Max Stassi.

“My ownership group has done everything they have promised to this community and leaves the team in great standing. We have worked very hard to improve Colusa Casino Stadium without the subsidy of tax dollars which is remarkable in this day and age of sports and I am saddened to see them move on if a new ownership group can’t be formed. I wish CSH International the best and the opportunity the gave myself and my daughter” said Mink.

During the three seasons in the GWL, nearly 110,000 fans came out to see the Gold Sox (and the Bears play ball) including 40,989 in 2016. A “Save the Sox in 2019” initiative has been launched by Mink, as he hopes that along with new partners, the team will be able to play in 2019.

The team will be having a closeout sale on November 30 at the team’s clubhouse located at 1431 C Street (the office is located north of the stadium, enter into fenced parking lot and the front office door is located at the rear of the parking lot) from 10:00 AM to 7:00 pm. Items such as uniforms, hats, t-shirts, baseball/office/food & beverage equipment will be available for purchase.

Interested investors should contact GoldSox Vice-President / General Manager Michael Mink at michael@goldsox.com or at 530-741-3600.
