PRESS RELEASE – Medlar Field at Lubrano Park, the home of the State College Spikes, is about to turn into the world’s largest romper room – male rompers, that is. The Spikes will pay homage to the latest trend in men’s fashion with a Salute to the “Romp-him” on Wednesday, June 28, when they take on the Batavia Muckdogs (Miami Marlins) at 7:05 p.m.
The one-piece leisure outfit known as the romper has historically been popular with females, but the “romp-him” has recently taken the world by storm, with stars such as Cam Newton being seen out and about in this relaxing swag. Thus, the Spikes will let fans have a “romp” of their own on June 28.
Highlights of the tribute will include:
All fans wearing a romper or “romp-him” will receive half-off their ticket – even though you can’t take half off a romper
A special spotlight on the original male romper worn by Sean Connery as James Bond in “Goldfinger”
The first-of-its-kind Romper Cam
A Romper Fashion Show during the night
“The comfort and convenience of a Spikes game cannot be denied. Likewise, the comfort and convenience of a “romp-him” cannot be denied, either,” said Spikes General Manager Scott Walker. “We feel it’s a natural fit for us.”
In addition, fans will be able to get in on the fun leading up to the event by ordering their own Spikes romper or “romp-him.” These custom pieces of Spikes merchandise will be available for pre-order by calling (814) 272-1711, and fans ordering a Spikes romper or “romp-him” will be able to pick them up at the Off the Rack Outfitters team store inside Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.
The Spikes, Short-Season Single-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals, begin the defense of their New York-Penn League championship with Opening Night, presented by PSECU and NEWSRADIO 1390 WRSC, on Monday, June 19 at 7:05 p.m. against the Williamsport Crosscutters (Philadelphia Phillies). The 2017 schedule once again features 38 nights of fun, affordable family entertainment through September 7.
Single-game tickets for all 38 games on the Spikes’ 2017 home schedule are on sale now. Tickets can be purchased online, by phone at (814) 272-1711, or in person at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. Season Ticket memberships, Flex Books and an array of group hospitality options for the 2017 season are currently on sale by calling the Spikes at (814) 272-1711.
