Scrappers to Pay Tribute to Historic Car, Unveil Special Jerseys and Caps

PRESS RELEASE – The Mahoning Valley Scrappers are excited to announce they will change their name to the Mahoning Valley Packards for one night, on Saturday, August 12. The Scrappers, in conjunction with the National Packard Museum, will celebrate the historic Packard car and the Packard legacy. The night is presented by the Eastwood Mall Complex.

The Packards will don specialty Mahoning Valley Packards jerseys, which will be available for auction the day of the game and online with proceeds benefiting the National Packard Museum.

Mary Ann Porinchak, Executive Director of the National Packard Museum, states, “We truly appreciate the Scrapper Team for their efforts in bringing this collaboration to fruition to support the National Packard Museum. This opportunity to promote the Packard legacy publicly in America’s favorite past time arena is an honor and a thrill. As an institution that preserves the history of Packard, we are thrilled to share this heritage with a team that epitomizes the drive, character and pursuit of excellence that is synonymous with the name Packard. I am sure the Mahoning Valley Packards will make us proud and that the Packard brothers would approve!”

A ticket package is available starting at $30. The package includes a game ticket to August 12 and a limited edition Mahoning Valley Packards hat or t-shirt. For $45, fans can purchase a game ticket, a Mahoning Valley Packards hat and t-shirt. Both ticket packages include a donation to the National Packard Museum. Fans can purchase the ticket package online here and purchase merchandise online here or by calling 330-505-0000.

Brandiose designed the specialty jersey and retail hats. “The Packard brand is one of the most storied in America history,” said Brandiose’s Jason Klein. “We’re honored to celebrate the story of this American icon and its deep roots in the Mahoning Valley.”

Beginning in July the Pet Store at Eastwood Field will sell limited edition Mahoning Valley Packards t-shirts and hats.

We carry out our mission through the operation of a world-class museum that collects, preserves, and exhibits a collection of automobiles, artifacts, and documents and hosts educational programs and special events that further our Vision “to ensure the Packard Legacy endures.”

About Brandiose – The Packards look was brought to life at Brandiose in San Diego, where they make teams famous by celebrating their brand stories. Partners Jason and Casey invented the first glow-in-the-dark on-field cap for the Casper Ghosts and the first on-field rally cap for the Altoona Curve. They dreamed up top selling logos for the El Paso Chihuahuas, Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs and America’s oldest baseball club, the Cincinnati Reds.
