PRESS RELEASE – The Texas AirHogs are excited to announce Barrett Weaver as general manager of the organization. The AirHogs franchise and fans alike are well-acquainted with the ball club’s new GM.
Weaver served as third base coach for the organization from 2011-2013, 2015. During his time as third base coach, the AirHogs became American Association League champions and earned two South Division titles. In 2014, Weaver served as manager with the Fort Worth Cats.
In addition to his time as third base coach, his baseball credentials extend to coaching at the collegiate level. Since 2010, Weaver has been head coach of the Arlington Baptist Patriots. In 2016, Weaver served as league commissioner of the Great Southwest Collegiate League, a wooden-bat league which included four teams from the Dallas-Fort Worth area and four from Amarillo. Under his guidance as league commissioner, the Fort Worth Whitetails team of the DFW league went on to play in the NBC World Series.
“I’m extremely excited to be part of a professional organization as general manager,” Weaver said. “I’ve been blessed to be apart of this ball club for the past six years and it will be exciting to take on new responsibilities within the AirHogs organization.”
Weaver, 34, is a graduate of University of Indianapolis with a communications degree where he also pitched for the Greyhounds for two years. The AirHogs GM resides in Grand Prairie with his wife, Pamela and daughter Tristyn.
