PRESS RELEASE – The Adelaide Bite, proudly presented by SA Power Networks, will play out the 2016/17 Australian Baseball League season at the Diamond Sports SA Adelaide Shores complex, in West Beach.
West Beach, as the new home of baseball for the Bite, has received a Government grant to boost the diamond which has already benefited from a $4 million upgrade to be the premier baseball and softball diamond in the state.
The move is due to the renovation of Norwood Oval, expected to begin in November, which will see the Baulderstone Stand and part of the western stand demolished and replaced by a two-storey clubroom with a construction time of 16-18 months.
Just minutes from the beach, the move is an exciting one for Adelaide who will be able to tap into a rich vein of baseball support with six clubs located in the region, and Adelaide Bite General Manager Nathan Davison is thrilled by the move.
“West Beach is a great location and we’re really excited to be playing here for the upcoming season in a boutique stadium we can call our own,” Davison said.
“It’s a great location and we know fans are going to love the experience and everything we have planned on game day.”
With a reserved members stand, easy access through public transport and Tapleys Hill Road, plus an ABL first – a home run hill – West Beach will bring a whole new level of baseball to the state in a dedicated boutique stadium.
The home opener on November 25 will be a fantastic night for baseball fans as Adelaide take to the field with a new look team for their first home game since January 29.
Recently, the Diamond Sports complex hosted the 2016 Junior League National Championships, which it will host for another two years, while it is also the premier venue for the SA Women’s Baseball League and SABL finals.
“In its short history Diamond Sports has a strong pedigree with the events Baseball SA has hosted and we are looking forward to creating new milestones through the Bite,” Davison said.
“This will be a fun season on a new side of the city so there’ll be quality baseball in a quality setting which will stand out compared to the rest of the stadiums in the league.”
Ticketing and other stadium details will be released over the next few weeks, while full season memberships are on sale now for $230 in our reserved members’ stand. Contact the Adelaide Bite office on 8331 2675 or Eric Balnar on 0452 182 325 or firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
