Spinners New Owner Brings Swinging Pirate Ship to LeLacheur Park

Lowell Spinners LogoPRESS RELEASE – The Lowell Spinners, short season affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, have unveiled the first new attraction of the Dave Heller era at LeLacheur Park. The Gator Gondola is officially open to the public. The ride will debut on Thursday, July 28th, as the team kicks off a three-game home stand with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 pm.

The Gator Gondola is a swinging pirate ship ride that will be located in the Foul Ball Fun Zone presented by Circle Health. The ship is designed to seat up to 12 passengers and will provide new and thrilling amusement fun to the younger fans at LeLacheur. The Gator Gondola, named after Spinners mascot, Canaligator, highlights the children’s play area which also includes a dunk tank, inflatable rides, and various carnival games.

“Spinnertainment, means providing the most fun possible for fans of all ages each and every time they entre our beautiful ballpark” said Heller. “The new swinging pirate ship is a ride that our youngest fans will enjoy over and over again. And it’s just the first of many improvements we have planned as we go about remaking LeLacheur Park into the best Minor League ballpark in the region.”

The ride will be first major addition to the park from the new owner. Heller, who purchased the team in June, currently owns four other Minor League Baseball teams, the Quad Cities River Bandits, the Billings Mustangs, the Wilmington Blue Rocks, and the High Desert Mavericks. His teams are known for their off-field attractions, including a 105-foot tall Ferris wheel and spinning bumper cars in Quad Cities as well to a swinging pirate ship similar to the Gator Gondola.

The Spinners upcoming home stand features the team’s annual “Military Appreciation Night” on July 28th, featuring a free military themed jersey for the first 1,000 fans in the park and free admission for all active and retired military. On July 29th, the Spinners will host a post-game concert featuring KISS Forever, one of the nation’s most popular KISS tribute bands. The final game of the home stand on July 30th features the Spinners annual Super Hero Night, featuring appearances from of the country’s most popular super heroes and a costume contest for fans.
