Pippins Hire New Play-By-Play Announcer

Yakima Valley Pippins PrimaryPRESS RELEASE – Evan Budrovich, a 2015 University of Southern California graduate, is joining the Yakima Valley Pippins for the 2016 season as play-by-play broadcaster and media relations coordinator.

Budrovich succeeds Ryan Rouillard, the voice of the Pippins in 2014 and 2015, who will be working in minor-league baseball this year.

“We knew finding someone who could build on the excellent foundation that Ryan built would be difficult, but I believe we have found in Evan someone who can do just that,” general manager Jeff Garretson said. “I think Pippins fans are in for a treat when they hear Evan.”

Yakima Valley Pippins New BroadcasterBudrovich comes to the Pippins with previous experience in summer collegiate baseball, after spending the 2015 season as director of broadcasting for the Morehead City (N.C.) Marlins of the Coastal Plain League.

“I’m very excited about continuing the strong broadcast quality here with the Pippins,” Budrovich said. “It will also be a great opportunity to explore the Pacific Northwest, telling the stories of our players and building toward an outstanding season.”

A native of Torrance, Calif., Budrovich currently serves as the digital media assistant at Campbell University (Buies Creek, N.C.), covering 21 intercollegiate sports. Budrovich graduated from USC’s Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism in May 2015 with a degree in broadcast and digital journalism, when he also was the lead play-by-play voice for the Trojans’ baseball team for two years.

The Pippins’ 2016 home opener is against defending WCL champion Bend on Monday, June 6. Full-season ticket memberships, mini plans – including the popular Fireworks Five and $2 Tuesday plans – and flex vouchers that are good at any Pippins home game are available at Hunky Shaw’s. Select seating packages also can be purchased online.
