Shorebirds Announce 2016 Theme Nights

Delmarva Shorebirds LogoPRESS RELEASE – The Delmarva Shorebirds, Class A Affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, are proud to announce the team’s schedule of theme nights and ballpark appearances for the 2016 season.

Former Shorebird and Orioles all-star Brian Roberts will be making a return to Salisbury on June 11 as a part of Mountaire Farms Faith and Family Night. Roberts will be on hand to meet fans, sign autographs and provide a postgame message.

Delmarva shorebirds 2016 Theme NightsThe Shorebirds will also be providing a new way for fans to kick off the weekend with Orange Fridays. Players will wear specially designed orange jerseys for all Friday home games, and the Shorebirds are encouraging all fans to dress in orange on these days. Fans will have a chance to own these game-used jerseys when the Shorebirds hold an in-game auction during the final Friday home contest of 2016 on Sept. 2.

The slate of theme nights begins with Opening Night on April 14 at 7:05 p.m. The Shorebirds will be celebrating 20 years of affiliation with the Orioles by having a number of O’s prize giveaways throughout the game. Opening Weekend will also feature the annual Meet the Team Lunch on April 17 before that day’s 2:05 p.m. contest.

Field of Dreams Days are returning in 2016 with two days for local school children to enjoy a day of baseball and education. The games on April 28 and May 18 will feature 10:35 a.m. start times, and a special ticket package for schools is available.

April will then conclude with Scout Night presented by Dr. Susan Vickers at Seaside Smiles on April 30 at 7:05 p.m. The game will feature a pregame parade for local Cub, Boy and Girl Scouts along with special events throughout the contest.

The popular Bark in the Park event will return on Sunday, May 1 at 2:05 p.m., as fans will be permitted to bring their dogs to that afternoon’s game in exchange for a donation to the Humane Society of Wicomico County.

Fans are encouraged to join the battle against breast cancer on PRMC Pink Pitch Night, which will be held on May 14 at 7:05 p.m. The Shorebirds will wear special pink jerseys that will be auctioned off during the game to benefit the Richard A. Henson Cancer Institute.

Delmarva will be hosting a Law Enforcement Night on Thursday, May 26 as a way of saying thanks to those who serve in our communities. The game will feature a police-themed Shorebirds hat giveaway to the first 500 fans courtesy of Spicer Bros. Construction Inc. May’s theme night schedule concludes with Sherman’s Birthday and Mascot Mania presented by Sherwood of Salisbury on May 27 and Little League Night on May 28.

The Shorebirds will be holding an Independence Day Bash on July 4 at 6:35 p.m., with the Shorebirds players and coaches donning patriotic jerseys that will be auctioned to benefit the VFW’s Military Assistance Program.

Community Fund Weekend will be held July 21-24 with plenty of chances for fans to score unique prizes while helping raise funds for the Shorebirds Community Fund. Christmas in July will serve as a highlight of this weekend on July 23, as the Shorebirds will wear festive holiday jerseys that will be auctioned off during the game. The team will also be holding a Chinese auction on July 21, a silent auction on July 22 and a Christmas grab bag on July 23.

Delmarva will welcome members of its Eastern Shore McDonald’s Kids Club to the game on July 24, which will feature a number of special events for our young fans including a bike raffle and a Delmarva Printing all-star poster giveaway.

The team’s annual Crab Feast will take place on Friday, Aug. 5, as fans will be able to purchase a special ticket that includes an all-you-can-eat crab buffet during the game.

The Shorebirds’ contest on Aug. 10 against Lakewood will spotlight Ed Randall’s Fans for the Cure and the fight against prostate cancer. The Shorebirds will wear blue wristbands to raise awareness for this great cause.

For the ice cream lovers out there, the Shorebirds will again be hosting its annual Float for the Fund presented by Georgeo’s Italian Ice and Mug Root Beer on Sunday, Aug. 21. For a $5 donation to the Shorebirds Community Fund, fans will receive a souvenir mug that can be used to receive unlimited root beer floats during the game.

Delmarva will conclude the season with its first ever Fan Appreciation Weekend, which will be held Sept. 2-5 with special events and giveaways for fans as a way of saying thanks for your support. The weekend will culminate with Fan Appreciation Day during the 2016 finale on Sept. 5 at 2:05 p.m.
