PRESS RELEASE – The fans of the DuPage Prospect League baseball team have landed on their new team’s identity. With overwhelming support including 200 votes, the DuPage Drones was selected to represent the new team and community.
“This is obviously a unique name which was something I was hoping for to come out of this contest. Our older fans may scratch their head wondering about Drones as a name, but if you ask parents of young kids, you will surely be aware of the Drone’s status as a viral sensation as a recreational device. The exciting part is that I believe we may be one of the very few teams in the country really grabbing onto something technological to represent the community. This is likely a trend that you’ll see in years to come as the younger generation interacts with technology on a daily basis, but we’re the first.” said CEO/owner Josh Schaub.
The DuPage Drones will make their franchise home debut in the Prospect League on May 28th, 2016 when the team plays at the Village of Lisle-Benedictine University Sport Complex against the Danville Dans, one of the most historical teams in the league which features MLB alumni including Jonathan Papelbon, Chris Coghlan, and Mitch Moreland. The Prospect League is recognized as one of the top leagues in America as Baseball America ranks the league 4th out of 50 leagues in regards to future MLB talent.
Bryan Bylica a local Downers Grove resident and baseball fan has been chosen as the winner of the name of the team contest. Bylica submitted Drones as his suggested team name. Bylica has won season tickets, $500 cash, and team merchandise. Drones team merchandise will be unveiled by the team along with their uniforms this in early Spring.
