In his role with the Mallards he will be overseeing all aspects of the food and beverage operation at the Duck Pond as well as at Breese Stevens Field. He will continue to offer guests at the ballpark unparalleled customer service and quality food and beverage that fans that have come to know and love each summer.
“Working for the Mallards and Big Top Baseball is, first of all, very much a privilege,” Punzel said. “The continued growth that the club has had is amazing and I’m looking forward to bringing my food and beverage experience in minor league baseball to the club and help out in whatever manner I’m able to.”
Previous to this new role, Austin started his career in baseball in 2009 as an operations intern with the Mallards with an emphasis on the management of the Great Dane Duck Blind concessions stand. Austin’s professional work history consists of working in minor league baseball with Professional Sports Catering at the Erie SeaWolves in the Double-A Eastern League and the Peoria Chiefs of the Single-A Midwest League. Most recently Austin was the Director of Food and Beverage in Peoria.
In his spare time, Austin is an avid fan of all teams based in Wisconsin and trying to squeeze as many rounds of golf into a busy summer as possible. Austin lives in Madison with his fiancée Mollie and their dog Lily.
The Mallards will host their home opener on Friday, June 3rd when they take on the new Northwoods League affiliate from Rockford, IL. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 pm. Single-game tickets for the 2016 season will go on sale at 9:00 am on Saturday, April 30th.
