Party Animals! Maybe they can get Coach Pitino from Louisville to coach the team this summer.

I have to say, I really like the Savannah Bananas. Why not? I admit it’s a silly name, but this isn’t Major League Baseball. I think gimmicky names like the Bananas should be embraced in the collegiate leagues like they are in MiLB. Also, consider the merchandizing success of MiLB’s Biscuits, Nuts and IronPigs. I’d buy a Savannah Banana hat in a heartbeat.

Well, I submitted the name and “concept” logo below for the Kokomo team (as well as “Tropics” and “Tropicals” for a Will Ferrell/Semi-Pro movie angle) based on the Beach Boys’ “Kokomo” song, so I guess I have no room to complain about Bananas:

Perhaps nicknames are hard to come up with in the world of baseball-Bananas and Party Animals? However, Seagulls would be my pick for the new baseball team in Savannah. However, I would have loved to see the name the name Savannah Red Cups that pays homage to carry out beer glasses in the city.
