BlueClaws Promote Two Front Office Staffers

Lakewood BlueClaws Alternative LogoPRESS RELEASE – Jim DeAngelis, who has been with the BlueClaws since their 2001 inception, has been promoted to Vice President of Community Relations, and Robert McGillick has been promoted to Senior Sales Executive.

DeAngelis, who started with the BlueClaws in September of 2000, seven months before the team played their first game, had been the BlueClaws Director of Community Relations.

Lakewood BlueClaws Promote Two“Jim has led our extensive community efforts and been an integral part of our staff and family for 15 years,” said Chris Tafrow, BlueClaws General Manager. “He is very deserving of this promotion.”

In his role, DeAngelis is the Executive Director of BlueClaws Charities, which works each year with 40 Community Partner organizations plus other area community events and fundraiser outings. He is also responsible for all donation requests sent to the team, and all fundraising for BlueClaws Charities, such as the annual ALS Celebrity Waiter Event, Nine & Dine Golf Outing, Bowling With the BlueClaws, and other initiatives.

“The BlueClaws and BlueClaws Charities take great pride in being not just involved in, but a part of, the wonderful Jersey Shore community and family,” said DeAngelis. “We look forward to continuing, and expanding, that role into 2016 and beyond.”

In May, Jim was awarded the 2015 Community Service Award by the Monmouth-Ocean Development Council. He has three times been named South Atlantic League Community Relations Director of the Year. Additionally, he is the Board Chairman of The Salvation Army of Ocean County and a New Jersey state board member for The Salvation Army. He is a board member of the Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore as well as the chairman of the Girl Scouts Corporate Leadership Council, and the Ocean County Tourism Advisory Council. He also works on boards of the American Cancer Society, ALS Association, Greater Toms River Chamber of Commerce, and the Monmouth-Ocean Development Council.

McGillick has been with the BlueClaws since 2011. He has worked in the Food & Beverage Department and since 2012 has been a BlueClaws Group Sales Executive. In addition to his work in the Group Sales Department, he also works with area high schools and local athletic departments, and oversees the BlueClaws Amateur Baseball Series, Fundraiser Program, and relationships with area Chambers of Commerce. In addition, he is on the Board of Directors of the Jackson Chambrer of Commerce.

“Rob is a diligent worker that has handled additional responsiblity with aplomb,” added Tafrow. “He has certainly earned this promotion and we’re glad he’s a part of our team.”

Rob resides in Ocean County with his wife Amanda.
