PRESS RELEASE – Today the Jacksonville Suns announced Harold Craw as its new general manager. Craw recently completed his 14th season in professional sports as the assistant general manager of the Chattanooga Lookouts. Today also marks the completion of the franchise’s sale between new owner Ken Babby and long-time owner Peter Bragan, Jr.
“Harold is one of the most accomplished and well-respected executives in Minor League Baseball and I am excited to have him lead the Suns,” said Babby. “His skill set and leadership will help set the franchise’s vision and direction so we can give the fans in Jacksonville a world-class ballpark experience, at an affordable price.”
Craw will oversee marketing and sales, community engagement, game-day experience, and all other operational aspects of the organization.
“It is an honor to have this opportunity,” said Craw. “Jacksonville has a rich baseball tradition. I look forward to continuing that tradition and growing upon the great foundation laid by the Bragan family. I’m extremely excited to become a part of the community, while giving our ballpark guests enjoyable, life-lasting memories.”
Craw will lead a newly-refreshed front office team with deep experience in Minor League Baseball, representing some of the most successful franchises in baseball. Linda McNabb will be the vice president of sales and marketing and Mary Nixon will be the assistant general manager overseeing all food and beverage as well as special events at The Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.
Craw returned to his hometown and joined the Lookouts (Southern League Double-A affiliate of the Minnesota Twins) in 2013 as the team’s senior corporate sales executive before being promoted to assistant general manager for the 2014 season. Prior to that, he was the general manager with the Quad City River Bandits (Midwest League Single-A affiliate of the Houston Astros), after spending more than 10 seasons with the Charleston River Dogs (South Atlantic League Single-A affiliate of the New York Yankees) from 2003-12, the final two seasons as the team’s assistant general manager.
During his time with the River Dogs, Craw was twice recognized by the South Atlantic League with annual league awards as Sales Executive of the year and for community relations. While in Charleston, Craw was an active volunteer who co-founded and co-chaired the Charleston RBI Baseball League.
After graduating from Emory and Henry College (Va.) with a bachelor’s degree in physical education, Craw earned a Master’s Degree in Sport Management from East Tennessee State University in 2001 before starting his Minor League Baseball career in 2002 with the Johnson City (Tenn.) Cardinals as its director of stadium operations.
Craw and his wife Angie have relocated to Jacksonville with their daughters Cameron and Jasmine.
