PRESS RELEASE – THe Chico Heat announced today that Hunter Hampton has joined the organization as General Manager to bring baseball back to Chico. The Heat have joined the Great West League and will begin play next June.
Hampton, a 1996 Chico State graduate, comes with a wealth of experience in sales and marketing and has been a Chico resident for over 20 years.
“We are very fortunate to have someone of with Hunter’s background overseeing the team,” said Pat Gillick, one of the team’s owners. “His experience and versatility, along with his connection to the Chico area, will serve the team and the fans well.”
ABOUT THE CHICO HEAT
The Chico Heat once played in the now defunct Western Baseball League from 1997-2002 and set league attendance records each year. The Heat will be returning in the Great West League and playing their home games at Nettleton Stadium on the campus of California State University, Chico. Hall of Fame baseball executive and Chico-native, Pat Gillick, is partnering with Steve Nettleton, the original team’s owner, and CSH International to lead the Heat’s return to Chico.
