PRESS RELEASE – Commemorative bobbleheads of Charlie Manuel, Maikel Franco and Kenny Giles, the introduction of “T-Shirt Tuesdays” and the return of the popular Friday Night Fireworks series highlight the IronPigs 2015 preliminary promotional schedule. Single-game tickets for the 2015 season presented by Capital BlueCross are available beginning on Saturday, Mar. 7, at 9 a.m. during the club’s annual National Pig Day celebration at Coca-Cola Park.
The IronPigs home opener is tabbed for Thursday, April 9, at 7:05 p.m. against the Pawtucket Red Sox and the first 3,000 fans 18 and older in attendance will receive an Opening Night Baseball Cap presented by Service Electric Cable TV & Communications.
The Friday Night Fireworks series originates on Friday, April 10 and continues during each and every IronPigs Friday home game during the 2015 season at Coca-Cola Park and includes the highly-anticipated 3-D Fireworks Extravaganza on Friday, July 3, to celebrate our nation’s Independence. In addition to the Friday Night Fireworks series, there are a handful of other fireworks shows planned throughout the season, bringing the grand-total of shows to 16.
The first bobblehead giveaway of the season – commemorating Maikel Franco hitting for the cycle on Aug. 23, 2014, against the Syracuse Chiefs at Coca-Cola Park – is slated for Saturday, April 11. This highly-unique bobblehead depicts Franco riding a unicycle to symbolize this historic moment in franchise history. Just two days later on Monday, April 13, the IronPigs will honor the winningest manager in Phillies history, Charlie Manuel, with his very own bobblehead keepsake.
The final bobblehead giveaway of the season featuring Kenny “100 Miles” Giles will be awarded on Monday, May 11, and features an odometer on the base of the giveaway to recognize Giles’ hard-throwing achievements. The 24-year-old flamethrower struck out 64 batters in just 45.2 innings during his rookie season last year with the Phillies after starting the season in Double-A.
The debut of “T-Shirt Tuesdays” – the brand-new Tuesday night home game promotion in 2015 – makes its impactful debut with a commemorative Jackie Robinson T-shirt giveaway on Tuesday, April 14. Since 2011, Major League Baseball has annually recognized Robinson’s legacy of breaking baseball’s color barrier with “Jackie Robinson Day” on April 15. Every other Tuesday night home game next season will include a uniquely themed T-shirt giveaway as well.
Celebrate Mother’s Day with a Stemless Wine Glass giveaway on Sunday, May 10 and rejoice with Dad on Father’s Day and receive a Fedora Cap keepsake on Sunday, June 21.
