PRESS RELEASE – The Carolina Mudcats are proud to announce that Joe Kremer was promoted to the title of Vice President today. Kremer has led the Mudcats’ front office since Steve Bryant purchased the original team in 1989.
“It is a great honor to be given this promotion to Vice President/General Manager,” Kremer said. “I have given, and will always give, my best efforts to the Mudcats organization.”
Bryant, the majority owner and president of the Mudcats, praised his right-hand man for the years of hard work in helping the Mudcats realize their vision of Five County Stadium that was put in place years ago.
“Joe is a quintessential professional and his 27-year tenure has guided the Mudcats from creation through the upcoming 25th season in the Triangle,” Bryant said. “Under his tutelage, many of his employees have moved on to general manager positions within baseball and he has won every award he’s been eligible for.”
Kremer assisted Bryant in relocating the team from Columbus, Ga., to Zebulon in 1991. One year later, the West Lafayette, Ind., native earned the Southern League Executive of the Year honor. He followed that accomplishment with identical hardward in 1993, 1995, 2005 and 2008. By 1996, Kremer and the team had garnered Baseball America’s Bob Freitas Award for outstanding organizational achievement and success at the Double-A level. Carolina’s general manager once again led the club through a period of transition as the team moved from the Southern League and into the Carolina League in 2012.
Before joining the Mudcats, Kremer worked with the Triple-A Nashville Sounds and was assistant general manager of the Double-A Huntsville Stars. He graduated from Purdue University in 1983.
The Carolina Mudcats are the Advanced-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves and will begin their fourth season in the historic Carolina League next year. The Mudcats open the 2015 season on Thursday, April 9, against the Salem Red Sox at Five County Stadium. Information on season tickets, group outings and a full schedule will be released at a later date.
