PRESS RELEASE – At the Baseball Winter Meetings in San Diego, CA the Midwest League Board of Directors formally elected Richard A. Nussbaum, II (“Dick”) President to succeed George H. Spelius, who served as President of the League since 1987. Nussbaum will continue in his role as General Counsel for the League which he has done since 1993, and as Secretary, an office he has held since 2009. His term begins January 1, 2015.
Nussbaum, a native of Pittsburgh, Pa, is a 1974 Graduate of the University of Notre Dame and a 1977 Graduate of the Notre Dame Law School. While at Notre Dame he was a starting Center Fielder for the legendary coach Jake Kline for all 4 years.
Nussbaum has been married to his spouse, Mary Pat, for 38 years and has 3 children and 5 grandchildren. Dick and Mary Pat reside in South Bend, Indiana and the League Office will be located there effective January 1, 2015.

George Spelius was also elected President Emeritus in recognition of the crucial role he has played in the success of the Midwest League and will continue to serve the League as the Director of Umpire Development.
Holly Voss will maintain her role as League Administrator and will continue to work out of a satellite League office in Beloit, Wisconsin, while the League Office will relocate to South Bend, Indiana effective January 1, 2015.
