Tetzlaff Steps Down as Pippins GM

Yakima Valley Pippins PrimaryPRESS RELEASE – Pippins general manager Danny Tetzlaff announced today that he will be stepping down from his position to return home to North Carolina.

“Danny was the right guy to make sure our first season ran as smoothly as it did. I’m grateful my friend was able to be a part of such a magical start to Pippins baseball,” said Zachary Fraser, president of Pacific Baseball Ventures, owners of the Yakima Valley club. “Danny and I had reached agreement on terms for the 2015 season, but unfortunately, we can’t change geography.”

In addition to managing the final touches of more than $150,000 in stadium improvements at Yakima County Stadium, Tetzlaff was integral in training a new stadium staff, re-establishing positive baseball connections in the community, and helped prepare the transition for what is shaping up to be an even better 2015 sophomore season. Under his day-to-day guidance and working alongside manager Marcus McKimmy, the Pippins made WCL history by winning the WCL East division, the first-ever expansion franchise to claim such a feat.

“I’m grateful for the chance to be a part of the Pippins amazing first season,” said Tetzlaff. “Yakima is a special community and poised to be the best market in the WCL. I will miss this market and my friends here, but need to be closer to my family in North Carolina. It’s tough to change a 3,000 mile gap.”

The 2015 season is progressing, as the schedule is being finalized and prepared for release and players coming under contract. Fraser will serve as the general manager in the interim as he interviews selected candidates for this position.

“Yakima Valley is an exciting place to be running a community baseball team. We have a strong stable of corporate partners, season ticket holders and a fantastic coaching staff,” said Fraser. “The right GM will have the passion to continue to build on the strong foundation established under Danny’s leadership, a strong desire to make Yakima Valley their home and become an integral, long-time part of the community. This is not a stepping – stone market – this is a destination market for creating the best in community and baseball entertainment.”
