After more than 2,500 suggestions and over 10,000 fan votes online, Rich Baseball Operations announced today that the “West Virginia Black Bears” has been chosen as the name of their new (relocating Jamestown Jammers) Single-A New York-Penn League franchise in Morgantown (WV). So, both West Virginia teams are “West Virginia.” Perhaps they’ll both end up with Fifth Third naming rights deals as well.
I like black bears, but I would have liked to have seen something a little more unique (and exciting). Below are a few past/present Black Bears that immediately came to mind:

Very uninspired name. There was probably 6 better choices among the 10 finalists.
