PRESS RELEASE – With the St. Louis Cardinals once again heading to the MLB Postseason, the Springfield Cardinals are excited to launch the first-ever 2014 Beard Playoff, presented by The Rogue Barber.
The 2014 Beard Playoff will run throughout the Postseason to crown the area’s best beard. The Beard Playoff is open to all fans with facial hair, with submissions being collected through 5pm this Friday, September 26.

The 2014 Beard Playoff will follow the MLB Playoffs schedule, with four rounds of competition culminating with the Beard World Series. The best beards will be decided each round by fan voting on the Springfield Cardinals Facebook Fan Page. The Beard Playoff will wrap up with the final out of the MLB World Series, with the winner announced shortly thereafter. More information about the beard bracket and first-round selections will be announced on the Cardinals Facebook Fan Page on Monday, September 29.
The 2014 Beard Playoff winner will get to throw out a Ceremonial First Pitch before a 2015 Springfield Cardinals home game and receive a team-signed baseball. The runner-up will receive a pack of razors and each of the top 10 participants will receive two tickets to an Ashley Furniture HomeStore Dugout Deck during a 2015 home game.
