Morehead City Marlins Hire New GM

Morehead City Marlins LogoPRESS RELEASE – The Morehead City Marlins are pleased to name Catherine Roth the franchise’s new general manager.

Roth, a native of Poquoson, Va., has a wealth of experience in the Coastal Plain League. She spent two summers with the Marlins, starting as an intern in 2013 and was then promoted to Director of Operations for the 2014 season. Her biggest task last season was helping coordinate the 2014 Coastal Plain League All-Star Weekend.

Morehead City Marlins Roth“I am beyond excited for this opportunity to continue working in Morehead City and doing what I love. This community has embraced me as family and I look forward to my future with the Marlins organization,” Roth said.

Prior to joining the Marlins, Roth spent two summers in Hampton, Va., working for the Peninsula Pilots. While with the Pilots she was the media relations/promotional manager while also writing press releases, selling advertising and working in the press box.

“I am thrilled to have Catherine joining the Marlins family. Her passion and experience in the Coastal Plain League and the Marlins will greatly help this organization.” said Marlins owner Buddy Bengel.

In addition to her work in the Coastal Plain League, Roth also worked in the front office for Virginia Tech’s baseball team. She wrote articles for the monthly newsletter, as well as press releases. She also played a role in the production of Baseball Night in Blacksburg, the annual baseball banquet.
