PRESS RELEASE – The Madison Mallards host Ducktoberfest each year in early fall. This event is FREE and open to the public. Ducktoberfest will be held on October 4, 2014 at 1:00 pm.
Ducktoberfest features a large variety of fall seasonal and German beers. For $20 fans can purchase the Ducktoberfest Beer Tasting Package. Mallards Executive Chef Tristan Straub will be creating classic German cuisine such as jaeger schnitzel with dill sour cream and sauerbraten with sweet and sour beef gravy. Kids frankfurters (hot dogs) will also be available.
Live entertainment will be provided throughout the event by The Madison Brass and The Rowe Brothers!
Kids activities include Mallards inflatables, hay rides, a petting zoo, Bingo and a German themed craft tent.
Dachshund races will be taking place throughout the entire event with the finals scheduled for 4:30 pm.
Adults can participate in Keg Tossing, Axe Throwing, and Hammerschlagen. Also available for adults will be the German Home Run Competition with the winner taking home the grand prize of a case of Octoberfest Beer, a Mallards t-shirt, pint glass and 4 Great Dane Duck Blind tickets. This time trial competition will consist of the following:
1) Each entry fee is $5 and each contestant will receive a Free Mallards hat.
2) Contestant will start on home plate sprint to first base while carrying an empty keg.
3) At first base the contestant will play one game of Hammerschlagen by poundng the entire nail into the log.
4) After running to second base, the contestant will be met with a German sausage that they must consume prior to heading to third base.
5) When they reach third base the contestant must drink one 16 ounce beer. After consuming the beer the contestant will sprint to home plate.
6) Each contestant will be timed and the best time at the end of the event will be declared the winner.
All attendees are encouraged to dress up in their vintage German attire to celebrate the beginning of fall. The Mallards will have a prize package for the best dressed!
Wisconsin’s Largest Beer Dinner
PRESS RELEASE – The Madison Mallards Ducktoberfest has expanded to a two-day event with the introduction of Wisconsin’s Largest Beer Dinner presented by the Wisconsin Brewing Company. On Friday October 3 rd, the Mallards and Wisconsin Brewing Company will feature a delectable pairing of WBC beers with commentary from WBC Brewmaster Kirby Nelson matched with a menu of unique German food offerings prepared by Mallards executive chef Tristan Straub.
Wisconsin’s Largest Beer Dinner will take place in an Oktoberfest themed tent in centerfield of the “Duck Pond” and will start at 6 pm with a social hour featuring a complimentary WBC pint and homemade pretzel bites and an assortment of mustards. The dinner starts at 7 pm and will feature a festive Oktoberfest themed event with live polka music, interactive games and homemade German food with a Mallards twist.
