PRESS RELEASE – Today, the Ottawa Champions Baseball Club unveiled their official team logos in advance of their inaugural season in 2015. Ottawa’s newest professional sports franchise released their new corporate logo and a special baseball hat logo to be worn by the players next May when the season starts.
“The Ottawa Champions aspire to reflect our community and our new logo represents our passion for playing the game of baseball right here in the Nation’s Capital,” said Champions President David Gourlay. “We hope all our supporters and sports fans will embrace this bold new approach to professional baseball in Ottawa through our logo and colors.”
The Champions hosted a community contest to solicit ideas for the team’s identity as Ottawa’s newest professional sports franchise. The contest received over 80 entries and with the help from a local graphic designer, two logos were chosen.
This afternoon, Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson and Orleans City Councillor Bob Monette joined Gourlay to unveil the logo at Ottawa Stadium. In addition, Gourlay updated media on the operations progress the Champions have achieved this summer including the launch of a new website with ticket sale information and Gourlay briefed media on the bid for the 2017 CANAM/American Association All-Star game. The Champions will continue to update media and fans on progress in the coming months leading up to first pitch in May 2015.
The baseball cap logo is a detailed representation of Ottawa’s traditional landscape with the Peace Tower on Parliament Hill as the focal centrepiece. The Peace Tower is surrounded by a red ‘O’, representing the Ottawa name. The background is filled with a maple leaf, which will proudly display the Champions’ Canadian pedigree as they travel all over North America for regular season games. The brand logo displays the Champions name in bold and clear lettering allowing for easy recognition throughout the community and the Can-Am League. The bottom distinguishes the baseball identity with home plate and white lines indicating the first and third base sides.

The team also unveiled their new website at ottawachampions.com.
The seams are wrong on the logo— both cannot be going the same way- I’ve done over two dozen and this is a particular sore spot among baseball folks… many agencies that produce these have no idea.
You’re right.
