PRESS RELEASE – Virginia Beach Professional Baseball, LLC and the Virginia Beach Neptunes announced the debut of the team logos for the new baseball franchise. The Primary logo features King Neptune himself.
VBPB Chairman Jas Short said the logo design was no quick process. “After the community named their baseball team “The Virginia Beach Neptunes” by such an overwhelming vote, we got to work with a number of different concepts. After many weeks of blending great ideas from very creative people, and from groups of community volunteers, we think we have a logo that will give the team its identity and the community something to rally around.”
General Manager Joe Pinto says the logo promotes the fun family experience that defines Virginia Beach Baseball. “Every game in Virginia Beach is about a positive experience for fans and family. We also wanted to honor those who serve and incorporated colors of the Navy. We think the new logos capture both those elements perfectly.”
The Virginia Beach Neptunes are slated to play in 2015 in a 150-acre baseball complex with a 5-6,000 seat stadium. A total of 13 tournament fields are planned next to the stadium and another 12 tournament fields across the street. The group has conditional approval for an Atlantic League expansion franchise.
VBPB continues to work with the city on the terms of the lease agreement, permits and other items that were imitated with the Virginia Beach City Council’s unanimous vote for the project in February.
While that work is being done, VBPB anticipates beginning to break ground over the next few months and be playing Neptunes baseball for the 2015 Season.
I agree that you have to have King Neptune represent your logo, but other than the baseball bat in his hand, this does not scream baseball logo to me!
