PRESS RELEASE – The Yakima Valley Pippins are proud to announce the addition of Danny Tetzlaff to the front office staff. Tetzlaff will serve as the General Manager for the Pippins. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Pippins front office and will be able to enhance the Pippins on-field product as well as the fan experience.
“Danny is a great asset for the Pippins,” Pacific Baseball Ventures COO Zachary Fraser, “He has worked with wildly successful clubs in the past and we feel that experience will benefit both our staff and our fans.”
Tetzlaff makes his way to Yakima via Casper, Wyo. with over 12 years experience in minor league baseball. He has held executive roles with the Casper Rockies, Lehigh Valley IronPigs, and the Charlotte Knights. He helped Lehigh Valley transition into a $52 million dollar ballpark that allowed the IronPigs to lead all of minor league baseball in attendance with 641,000 fans passing thru turnstiles in 2009.
“The opportunity to build a franchise in the Yakima Valley was hard to pass up,” Tetzlaff said. “Bringing baseball back to the Yakima Valley is a privilege that I relish. The Yakima Valley has a rich baseball tradition and I hope to build off of that as we start a new era of baseball here. We can truly do something special for this area and I am excited to be a part of it.”
Tetzlaff made a name for himself in the baseball world with the Casper Rockies of the Single-A Pioneer League. He was named Pioneer League Executive of the Year in 2006 after setting numerous attendance records. He was very active in the community of Casper, Wyo. by partnering with local non-profit organizations and other groups to further entrench the Rockies in the community.
“Our staff will be able to lean on Danny immensely,” Fraser said, “He has expertise in every facet of ballpark operations, ticket sales, and fan experience. He will be able to produce an on-field product that will make the Yakima Valley embrace baseball once again.”
With only 65 days until Opening Day Tetzlaff has begun working as the General Manger and will oversee the Pippins organization on a day-to-day basis immediately. He will work with Director of Operations Noel Zanchelli to prepare Yakima County Stadium for fans both young and old. The first events scheduled in County Stadium are the WIAA State Baseball Championships in late May.
The Yakima Valley Pippins will begin their quest for a WCL Championship at Yakima County Stadium on June 6th, 2014 at 7:05 P.M. against East Division rival Wenatchee.
