Jimmy Walck Named New ‘Voice of Coca-Cola Park’

IronPigs LogoPRESS RELEASE – The Lehigh Valley IronPigs announced today that Jimmy Walck has been named as the new public address announcer at Coca-Cola Park. The search for the second-ever “Voice of Coca-Cola Park” began in January, after Tim Chorones — who held the post since the team’s inception in 2008 — stepped down after six seasons due to increased career and family obligations.

In a venue where the presence of bacon is prevalent, the IronPigs will turn to Walck to provide the sizzle.

Lehigh Valley IronPigs Voice of Coca-Cola Park“I was incredibly excited to hear the news,” said the 25-year-old Walck. “I’ve always dreamed of an opportunity to be the guy that gets the crowd going and who brings a stadium to life; to be part of the magic. I can honestly say I’m happier than a pig in mud!”

The IronPigs whittled down a pool of 75 candidates through a four-stage process. In the end, the native of Perkasie, Pa., stood out among the last three finalists and is now set to go wee, wee, wee all the way to the microphone.

“We were incredibly impressed with the caliber of candidates we had to choose from,” said IronPigs President/General Manager Kurt Landes. “We were fortunate to have someone like Tim Chorones to help shape the mold for the fan experience at Coca-Cola Park, and we are confident that Jimmy is the ideal choice to follow in his hoofprints and further enhance the ‘IronPigs Way!'”

Coincidentally, Walck’s career is in childhood education just as Chorones’ was prior to his start with the IronPigs. The product of Millersville (Pa.) University currently teaches in the Pennridge School District and has worked with third, fourth and sixth-grade students this past year. Walck has experience in hosting a variety of radio shows, but notes his comfort on the microphone, as well as his ability to ham it up for a crowd, stems from dabbling in stand-up comedy.

“Tim set a precedent here, so my goal is to deliver that same energy he brought every night and play my role in making this the most enjoyable experience for our fans,” said Walck, a lifelong Phillies loyalist. “This is such an awesome opportunity and I can’t wait to get started. I can’t wait until Opening Day.”

Walck will make his debut in his new house of bricks — Coca-Cola Park — on April 7, when the IronPigs host their home opener against the Buffalo Bisons at 5:05 p.m.
