PRESS RELEASE – The Winston-Salem Dash are happy to announce two new members of their broadcast team for the 2014 season. Dave Polaski will call the action with lead play-by-play broadcaster Brian Boesch for all 70 home games and select road games, while Lary Sorensen will join Boesch on all 13 Dash telecasts this year.
All 140 Dash games in 2014 will be broadcast live on wsdash.com/broadcast, while every Thursday game (both home and road) will also be available on 600 AM-WSJS in Winston-Salem. WMYV-TV (My 48) in the Triad will carry all 11 Saturday home games live and the Dash’s games on Opening Day and July 4 on a tape delay.
Polaski spent the 2013 season as a fill-in broadcaster with the Trenton Thunder (Double-A, New York Yankees) and the Lakewood BlueClaws (Low-A, Philadelphia Phillies). He also served as a play-by-play announcer for Rider University baseball during the 2013 season. Polaski is currently a studio host and producer with IMG College in Winston-Salem. His primary assignments are Ohio University football and men’s basketball and Miami University hockey.
A native of New Jersey, Polaski graduated from Ohio University in 2002. While there, he spent three seasons as a member of the Bobcats’ baseball team. After college, Polaski returned to New Jersey, broadcasting news and sports for a decade before relocating to Winston-Salem.
Sorensen enjoyed an 11-year Major League Baseball career with Milwaukee, St. Louis, Cleveland, Oakland, Chicago (Cubs), Montreal and San Francisco. The right-hander went 93-103 with a 4.15 earned run average in 346 career big league appearances. He was an American League All-Star in 1978 with the Brewers. After his playing days, Sorensen spent time as an analyst and talk show host on the Detroit Tigers Radio Network.
The Dash’s 2014 season will begin at BB&T Ballpark on Thursday, April 3, at 7 p.m. against the Wilmington Blue Rocks (Kansas City Royals). Single-game tickets and partial-season packages are available now by calling the Dash at (336) 714-2287 or visiting wsdash.com.
