Celebrity Appearances in Altoona

Altoon Curve new LogoPRESS RELEASE – Following the overwhelming response from fans to the athlete and player appearances over the past few seasons, the Altoona Curve are beefing up their red carpet list for 2014 with a total of nine athlete or celebrity appearances on the docket.

Six of the nine appearances are listed below while the remaining three appearances will be released at a later date.

April 4 | Pittsburgh Steelers Player Appearance presented by Holiday Inn Express & WTAJ-TV.
Since 2009, the Curve have annually invited a current Steelers’ star to Peoples Natural Gas Field to meet fans, throw out a first pitch and sign autographs. This year’s “Black and Gold” footballer to appear will be announced soon.

ColbyJune 12 | Danielle Colby from History Channel’s “American Pickers” Appearance
No stranger to the show American Pickers, which is currently in the midst of its sixth season and has surpassed the 100-episode plateau, is Danielle Colby. Danielle appears in nearly episode of the show about buying (picking) antiques and collectibles dug out of people’s houses, garages and shops. Colby is responsible for setting up a majority of the picks (and also goes on some herself) while also running Antique Archaeology in Le Claire, Iowa. and their satellite store in Nashville, Tenn. that sells the items that are picked on the show.

June 13 | Pirate Parrot, Bucco Brigade and Pierogies Appearance
The Curve’s annual “Buccomania” Night will feature the Pirate Parrot, the Pierogies, and the Bucco Brigade to entertain fans and give them a little slice of the PNC Park experience.

LuckingJuly 31 | “Piney” from FX’s “Sons of Anarchy” Appearance with William Lucking presented by Miller Lite/City Beverage
Sons of Anarchy, which currently airs of FX and is entering its seventh and possibly final season, is a show about a close-knit outlaw motorcycle club and takes place in a fictional town in California. Actor William Lucking or “Piney” from the show, appeared in 52 episodes of the biker-drama from 2008 through 2011 and was the club’s oldest member when the series began. Piney was one of the First 9 who founded the club along with Clay Morrow and John Teller.

Lucking is no stranger to the screen, however, as he has also appeared in such films as Contraband (2012), The Rundown (2003) and K-PAX (2001) while having roles in many TV shows including M*A*S*H and The A-Team.

FrazierAugust 14 | Holly Hatcher-Frazier from Lifetime’s “Dance Moms” presented by Cianna’s Dance Boutique
Lifetime’s Dance Moms, which is set in nearby Pittsburgh at the Abby Lee Dance Company, has been airing since 2011 and follows the children who have aspirations of reaching dance stardom as well as the mothers who are there for every rehearsal and performance. Holly Hatcher-Frazier has appeared in 84 episodes of the show since 2011 and is the mother of Nia.

AdamsAugust 25 | Pittsburgh Penguins Craig Adams Appearance presented by WTAJ-TV
A member of the Penguins since March 2009, Adams is currently in his fifth season with the Pens and is a defensively reliable forward that excels on the penalty kill and blocking shots. A 1996 draft pick by the Hartford Whalers out of Harvard, Adams has been a member of two Stanley Cup Champion squads, the Carolina Hurricanes (2005) and Pittsburgh Penguins (2009), during his 15-year NHL career.

“In keeping with the ‘Catch Stars in Curve, PA’ theme during this All-Star Season, we’re proud to bring in stars from television’s most popular shows this year,” said Curve General Manager Rob Egan. “Our fans have really enjoyed the appearances of some of their favorite Pittsburgh athletes, so we thought this was a natural next step. We tried to select celebrities that not only had mass appeal, but also a really avid fan base in their genre.”

This release is the second of three this week that will release the entire 2014 Curve Promotional Calendar. The schedule for the rest of the week will be as follows:

Wednesday, February 26 – Fireworks Nights & Jersey Auctions

Individual game tickets for the 2014 season will go on sale to the general public in-person only this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. during Baseball Bash at Peoples Natural Gas Field. The first 250 individual game ticket purchasers at Bash will receive a free gift of Curve earmuffs thanks to Ravine Ink & Thread. A free suite rental for a night is also up for grabs at Baseball Bash to one lucky fan who completes the Ballpark Scavenger Hunt. Online sales of single-game tickets will follow on Monday, March 3 at 9 a.m.
