Pelicans Name New Broadcaster, Deal with Digity

Myrtle Beach PelicansPRESS RELEASE – The Myrtle Beach Pelicans are pleased to announce a new partnership with Digity, LLC who will carry all 140 Pelicans regular season games and potential playoff games on their all-sports station, ESPN Radio Myrtle Beach 1450 WRNN AM. The Pelicans also recently introduced Nathan Barnett as the newest member of the team’s front office. Nathan Barnett replaces Travis Lucian, who served as the “Voice of the Pelicans” in 2013.

ESPN Myrtle Beach 1450 WRNN AM currently airs syndicated ESPN Radio content 24 hours a day. The partnership with the Pelicans marks the first local programming for the station, which changed formats in April 2013. Prior to that, it served as a simulcasting companion station with 99.5 WRNN FM. Pelicans broadcasts will open 15 minute prior to the scheduled first pitch for each game with the “Pelicans Warm-Up Show” and concludes with a 15 minute post-game show.

“We’re very excited about the partnership with ESPN Radio and Digity,” said Vice President and General Manager Andy Milovich. “The listener profile of their cluster matches our demographics very well and we feel they are a great fit with respect to both the broadcasts and our promotional schedule. Their commitment to the local community is very strong and gives us a platform on which to build our Pelicans Community Fund efforts that generated nearly $400,000 for the Grand Strand during our 2013 season.”

The new flagship of the Pelicans Radio Network will also be the new home of the “Pelicans Insider” show, every Wednesday when the Pelicans are not on the road. ESPN Myrtle Beach 1450 WRNN AM will air the live show from noon to 1 p.m. from Abuelo’s Mexican Restaurant in Myrtle Beach, located just south of Highway 17 Bypass, on the north side of the Coastal Grand Mall.

In addition to listening on ESPN Myrtle Beach 1450 WRNN AM locally, fans can tune in to a live stream of the station at ESPNMyrtleBeach.com and games will be streamed live at MyrtleBeachPelicans.com and on the MiLB app. For the second straight season, all MiLB games, including Pelicans games, can be heard at TuneIn.com and on the TuneIn Radio app as well. Video webcasts of all Pelicans home games, and select road games, can be accessed through MiLB.tv and on the MiLB app with the purchase of a subscription.

Barnett will serve as the Media Relations Manager and Play-by-Play broadcaster for the Pelicans in 2014, calling all regular season and postseason games on ESPN Myrtle Beach. He will also work as the primary liaison between the team and the local and national media.

The Dallas, Texas native joins the Pelicans after spending the 2013 season as the Broadcast and Media Relations Assistant with the Frisco RoughRiders, the Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers. A 2011 graduate of Pomona College, Barnett has also called professional hockey (Ontario Reign, ECHL) and Division I NCAA Women’s Basketball (SMU) in addition to three years of minor league and collegiate baseball.

The Pelicans begin their season on April 3rd when the Salem Red Sox visit TicketReturn.com Field at Pelicans Ballpark. Season Seats, Mini Plans, and Flex Books for the 2014 season are on sale now, and single-game tickets are available for purchase online. Single-game tickets will be available at the Box Office beginning on Wednesday, February 19.
