PRESS RELEASE – The Normal CornBelters, presented by Illinois Corn Farmers, announces Morton Community Bank as the presenting sponsor of the hot stove banquet on Jan. 23. The reception and silent auction will start at 5:30 p.m. with dinner starting at 6 p.m. and take place at the Marriot in Uptown Normal. The CornBelters will play their first regular season home game of the 2014 season (“CEFCU Opening Night”) at The Corn Crib on Friday, May 16 at 7 p.m. versus the Evansville Otters.
Morton Community Bank will be joining the CornBelters in presenting the hot stove banquet. The night will feature keynote speaker Mike Veeck as well as a silent auction. The auction will help raise funds for the Washington Recreation Association.
“Morton Community Bank is honored to partner with the Normal CornBelters on the Hot Stove Banquet. We thank the CornBelters for their support and commitment to the Washington relief project,” said Morton Community Bank Senior Vice-President Doug Roesch. “Their efforts to work with the Washington Recreation Association to provide funds to replace lost youth baseball equipment are commendable. We encourage the surrounding area to continue its benevolence towards the Washington community. MCB thanks Central Illinois for their support.”
The silent auction will help raise funds for the Washington Recreation Association that needs help to get back on their feet after the tornado damaged their community and many of their homes. Some of the silent auction items include a Harold Baines autographed batting helmet, Chris Carpenter autographed jersey, St. Louis Cardinals tickets and many other great items. Cash, check and credit cards will all be accepted that night for silent auction items.
“We are thrilled at the excitement level for the first ever CornBelters hot stove banquet,” said CornBelters President Steve Malliet. “The support shown for the silent auction to benefit the Washington Recreation Association has been tremendous and we are looking forward to a great night of baseball entertainment provided by Mike Veeck and Brooks Carey.”
